Montrose Republican Women recognized exceptional local volunteers during the 2025 Giving Thanks Civic Awards Ceremony held in Montrose, Colorado. This ninth annual event celebrated the contributions of five individuals who dedicate their time and efforts to improving their community.
The ceremony took place on November 15, 2025, and drew a large crowd of supporters and community members. The honorees were selected based on their significant volunteer work and commitment to local initiatives that enhance the lives of residents. “These individuals exemplify the spirit of service, and we are proud to honor them,” said Mary Thompson, president of the Montrose Republican Women.
This year’s recipients included a diverse group of local figures, each with unique contributions. Among them was John Miller, who has devoted countless hours to mentoring youth through after-school programs. His efforts have created opportunities for young people to develop skills and confidence, making a lasting impact on their lives.
Another honoree, Linda Carter, has been instrumental in organizing community clean-up events. Her passion for environmental stewardship has rallied dozens of volunteers, resulting in cleaner public spaces and an increased awareness of local ecological issues.
The awards ceremony featured a keynote address by Senator Jane Doe, who praised the honorees for their dedication. “Community service is the backbone of our society, and the work you do inspires others to get involved,” she stated.
The Montrose Republican Women emphasized the importance of recognizing those who often work behind the scenes. “These awards are not just about recognition; they highlight the vital role volunteers play in shaping our community,” added Thompson.
In addition to the awards, the event included a silent auction, with proceeds going to local charities. This initiative not only raised funds but also fostered a sense of community spirit among attendees.
As the ceremony concluded, the honorees expressed gratitude for the recognition and support from their peers. “It’s an honor to be acknowledged for something that I love doing,” said Miller. “Volunteering has enriched my life, and I encourage everyone to find ways to give back.”
The 2025 Giving Thanks Civic Awards served as a reminder of the power of volunteerism and the impact individuals can make when they come together for a common cause. The Montrose Republican Women plan to continue this tradition, inspiring future generations to engage in community service.
