Dunwoody Ranks in Top 10 of 2025 Digital Cities for Innovation

UPDATE: The City of Dunwoody has just been recognized as one of the top 10 cities in the 2025 Digital Cities Survey, an award presented by the Center for Digital Government (CDG) for its innovative use of technology in public service. This urgent accolade underscores Dunwoody’s commitment to enhancing cybersecurity, governance transparency, and digital equity.

This announcement comes during the National League of Cities “City Summit” held in Salt Lake City, where Dunwoody stood out among cities with populations up to 75,000. With a population of 51,844, the city has made significant strides in transparency and community engagement, making this recognition particularly impactful.

Teri Takai, Chief Programs Officer at the CDG, highlighted the award’s importance, stating, “What stands out this year isn’t just the technology, it’s the focus on the impact on constituent services.” Takai emphasized that cities like Dunwoody are applying innovation where it matters most, including housing stability and public safety.

Dunwoody’s achievements include the launch of an open checkbook and an online records portal, alongside the implementation of SeeClickFix to streamline service requests. The city has also enhanced communication with residents through new digital signage and various outreach channels.

In a bold move for public safety, Dunwoody has established a Real-Time Crime Center, integrating data from cutting-edge technologies such as Flock Safety drones, Live911, and ForceMetrics AI. This innovative approach aims to improve situational awareness and response times, showcasing a futuristic vision of community safety.

“Being recognized nationally affirms that our efforts are making a difference here at home,” said Ginger LePage, Dunwoody’s Technology Director. Her pride in the team’s dedication to leveraging tech advancements reflects the city’s commitment to better serve its residents.

The CDG’s acknowledgment also detailed the remarkable transformation of Dunwoody’s IT infrastructure. A comprehensive overhaul of its network, alongside a shift of major systems to the cloud, has been complemented by a citywide business resiliency plan to ensure uninterrupted services across all departments.
