Urgent Update: Brown University Shooting Suspect Found Dead

BREAKING: The suspect in the tragic mass shooting at Brown University has been found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Claudio Neves Valente, a 48-year-old former student from Portugal, was discovered on Thursday evening at a storage facility in New Hampshire, according to Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez.

Authorities believe Valente is responsible for the horrific shooting that left two students dead and nine others injured during a lecture on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Just two days later, he is also suspected of fatally shooting Nuno F.G. Loureiro, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at his home.

Valente was enrolled as a graduate student at Brown from the fall of 2000 to spring 2001, studying physics. However, Brown University President Christina Paxson confirmed he has “no current affiliation with the university.”

Investigators revealed that Valente and Loureiro shared an academic history, having attended the same program at a university in Portugal between 1995 and 2000. This connection adds a chilling layer to the unfolding tragedy.

This shocking incident has sent ripples of fear through the Brown community and beyond. The university is now grappling with the aftermath of this violence, which has left families mourning and students shaken.

As the situation develops, authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward. The investigation is ongoing, and more updates are expected.
