Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, a beloved matriarch and community figure, passed away at the age of 104, leaving behind a legacy marked by love, faith, and unwavering support for her family and friends. Born in Los Angeles in 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel, Gloria’s life journey spanned over a century, witnessing significant changes in society while remaining devoted to her core values.
Educated at Fremont High School, Gloria began her career at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her future husband, Don Ronnau. The couple shared a strong bond until Don’s passing in 2007. Their partnership laid the foundation for a family deeply rooted in faith and loyalty.
A Family Legacy
Gloria was the proud mother of four children: Donny Ronnau, who died in 2023; Diane Ronnau, who passed away in 2022; Ann Sidler (married to Derald); and Carol Randolph. Her family expanded with the joy of grandchildren, including Jennifer Randolph, Vincent Randolph (married to Krystal), Chris Randolph, Tracy Sidler (married to Eric), and great-grandchildren such as Jackson, Julianna, Jillian, Devin, and Tristan. Gloria also held a special place as “Auntie Glo” to her nieces and nephews, influencing their lives with her kindness and warmth.
A resident of San Pedro since 1962, Gloria dedicated two decades to the Los Angeles Unified School District, serving at both Banning High School and Dodson Middle School. Her commitment to education and community helped shape the lives of countless students and families.
A Life Well-Lived
Gloria’s life was characterized by her devotion to family. She created an environment where everyone felt welcomed and loved, often being the steady presence that others turned to in times of need. A visitation is scheduled for 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 21, 2023, with a Recitation of the Rosary at 4:00 PM at Green Hills Memorial Park, Cove Room. A funeral mass will be held on December 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park. The addresses for these locations are 27501 S.
