The Northern Section Media Panel has officially announced the selections for the All-Section football teams, highlighting standout performances from local athletes. Among those recognized are Red Bluff High School linebacker Jaret Bridwell and offensive guard Adan Rodriguez, both of whom secured first-team honors for their impressive performances throughout the season.
This marks the second consecutive year that Bridwell was named to the All-Section first team, a recognition earned after leading the section with an impressive total of 173 tackles, including 23 tackles for loss. His defensive prowess also earned him the title of Eastern Athletic League Defensive MVP. Rodriguez, similarly celebrated for his consistent performance, has also been named to the first team for the second year running.
Notable Performances from Red Bluff and Beyond
Joining Bridwell and Rodriguez in the recognition are Red Bluff wide receiver Jackie Graves and outside linebacker Bryce Owens, who were named to the second team. Graves demonstrated his versatility with 35 catches for 508 yards and six touchdowns, while also making five interceptions on defense. Owens delivered a strong performance with 100 tackles, including a section-best 40 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, building on his previous season where he finished with 15 sacks.
Additionally, Kaleb Flournoy, a junior from Corning, earned recognition as an All-Section athlete on the second team offense. He scored 24 touchdowns, ranking second in the Northern Section, and recorded a total of 1,098 rushing yards.
Highlighting the Season’s Best
The Northern Section Offensive MVP honor went to Lane Brown, the quarterback for Winters, who achieved a historic milestone by being the first player in section history to surpass 2,000 yards in both rushing and passing. Brown led his team to a state championship victory, amassing 2,279 rushing yards with 27 touchdowns and throwing for 2,272 yards with 26 touchdowns.
Los Molinos running back Wyatt Gillett also had a standout season, rushing for 2,187 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns, but did not make the team due to the competitive depth at the running back position. Other notable performances included Titus Andrus from Pleasant Valley, who rushed for 1,521 yards before sustaining a knee injury, and Dowan Stephens from Lassen, who scored a section-high 29 touchdowns.
In recognition of outstanding performance, Jason Davis of Gridley was named the Defensive MVP, while Gerald Piper, head coach of Redding Christian, received the Bob Reed Northern Section Football Coach of the Year award after guiding his team to the State Division 7 AA championship.
