URGENT UPDATE: Americans are being urged to act quickly as the $2,500 settlement claim deadline for a significant data breach approaches. Landmark Admin, accused of failing to safeguard sensitive information for customers across six insurance companies, has agreed to a $6 million settlement to resolve claims without admitting wrongdoing.
The breach, which occurred between May 13 and June 17, 2024, compromised sensitive data, including Social Security numbers, for customers of the following companies:
- American Benefit Life Insurance Company
- American Monumental Life Insurance Company
- Capitol Life Insurance Company
- Continental Mutual Insurance Company
- Liberty Bankers Life Insurance Company
- Accendo Insurance Company
Those impacted by the breach have been notified by settlement administrators. Claimants can file for compensation of up to $2,500 if they can provide documented proof of out-of-pocket losses due to fraud or identity theft. This proof may include financial documents such as bank statements or credit reports.
Importantly, those who submit claims without proof can still receive up to $30, though this amount may vary based on the number of successful claims submitted. The more claims received, the smaller the share of the settlement fund for each claimant.
The deadline to file claims is rapidly approaching on December 26, 2024. Missing this deadline means losing the opportunity for compensation. Previously, the deadline to object to the settlement payout passed on November 25.
The final approval hearing is scheduled for January 29, 2026, after which the payments will be distributed. Immediate action is crucial for those affected to secure their potential compensation.
For those eligible, visit the settlement website to file a claim and ensure you don’t miss this critical deadline. Don’t wait—act now to protect your rights!
