My Brother’s Table Secures $25,000 Grant to Combat Food Insecurity

URGENT UPDATE: My Brother’s Table, a vital soup kitchen in Lynn, MA, has just received a significant $25,000 grant from The Boston Foundation. This funding is part of the foundation’s Meeting the Moment: Sustaining Families Fund and aims to bolster food distribution efforts amid escalating community needs.

The grant comes at a critical time when demand for food assistance is surging. My Brother’s Table has been tirelessly serving over 1 million meals annually since 2020, highlighting the growing scale of food insecurity in the region. With more than 25% of residents in Lynn relying on SNAP benefits, recent disruptions in public assistance have left many families in distress.

“We are seeing more people coming through our doors who are worried about how they’ll feed themselves or their families,” stated Dianne Kuzia Hills, executive director of My Brother’s Table. “This grant from The Boston Foundation comes at a critical moment and will help us continue meeting our neighbors where they are, with dignity, compassion, and a reliable source of food.”

Founded in 1982, My Brother’s Table has provided over 9.5 million meals and operates every day of the year. The organization relies solely on private funding, receiving no government support. As food prices continue to rise and public benefits become less reliable, philanthropic contributions like this grant have become essential for sustaining their operations.

“This support helps us keep our doors open and our plates full,” Kuzia Hills added. “At a time when so many are facing uncertainty, this grant helps us offer something steady: a hot meal, a kind welcome, and the reassurance that no one is forgotten.”

With the increasing urgency of food insecurity, this grant is a lifeline for many families in Lynn. My Brother’s Table is committed to continuing its mission of providing free meals and compassion to those in need.
