Trump Launches New Year’s Attacks on Democrats and Major Cities

Former President Donald Trump used his New Year’s Eve to launch a series of sharp criticisms directed at the Democratic Party and leadership in cities governed by Democrats. In a post shared on Truth Social, Trump described Democrats as “cheaters and thieves” who are unwilling to implement voter identification measures. He expressed frustration, stating, “They want to cheat, and the Republicans should not put up with this any longer.”

These remarks came shortly after Trump voiced support for Tina Peters, a former Mesa County clerk who was sentenced to nine years in prison for unauthorized access to election systems. He remarked, “God Bless Tina Peters, who is now, for two years out of nine, sitting in a Colorado Maximum Security Prison, at the age of 73, and sick, for the ‘crime’ of trying to stop the massive voter fraud that goes on in her State.” Trump’s comments highlighted his ongoing focus on election integrity issues, a theme that has dominated his political rhetoric since the 2020 election.

Trump’s post also included a controversial announcement regarding the removal of National Guard troops from cities led by Democratic officials, including Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland. He claimed that these troops, initially deployed to combat crime surges, had effectively reduced crime rates in these locations. “We are removing the National Guard from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portland, despite the fact that crime has been greatly reduced by having these great Patriots in those cities,” he wrote.

This decision follows a recent Supreme Court ruling that rejected the Trump administration’s justification for the deployment of troops to Chicago. Trump suggested that the federal government could return to these cities in the future if crime rates rise again, stating, “We will come back, perhaps in a much different and stronger form, when crime begins to soar again – Only a question of time!”

The political landscape is notably charged as Trump continues to assert claims of election fraud and government overreach, solidifying his stance as a prominent figure in American politics. As the year unfolds, his actions and statements will likely resonate in the ongoing discussions surrounding governance and electoral integrity in the United States.
