Jenny McCarthy has openly discussed the challenges of living with her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, particularly highlighting his snoring. During an appearance on the show “Live with Kelly and Mark,” she described her husband, who she has been married to for over nine years, as the “nicest human being” but acknowledged that his snoring presents a unique challenge.
“He treats me like a queen, loves me, and is absolutely textbook perfect,” McCarthy stated, garnering applause from the audience. Despite this, she noted that Wahlberg’s snoring began just as she started experiencing perimenopause, which already disrupted her sleep.
Adapting to Nocturnal Challenges
To manage the situation, McCarthy has implemented some creative solutions. She now sleeps with large noise-cancelling headphones and a series of pillows she affectionately refers to as the “Great Wall of China” to separate them during the night. “I built in these insulations that really helped me get through the night,” she explained, sharing that she listens to calming ocean waves through her headphones.
McCarthy humorously mentioned that when Wahlberg snores loudly, she gently gives him a “love tap” to encourage him to turn over. “I sleep with these giant headphones every night… and then I built a Great Wall of China,” she said, emphasizing that these adjustments have made her bedroom feel almost soundproof.
Balancing Love and Challenges
In addition to the couple’s nighttime routine, McCarthy shared that their five shih tzus also join them in bed, making for a crowded sleeping situation. Despite this, she remains committed to making their relationship work, which both she and Wahlberg have prioritized since they began dating in July 2013 and married in August 2014.
Wahlberg has previously discussed the importance of addressing relationship challenges proactively. “We both have been divorced before, so we did a lot of individual therapy,” he explained. “When we got together, we decided to do some together, sort of preemptive work, because every new relationship brings its own challenges.”
He reiterated that understanding one another’s vulnerabilities is crucial in a romantic relationship, as these can often surface unexpectedly. “We put faith in the center of our relationship, and that is such a foundation for us,” he added.
Despite their busy schedules—Wahlberg films “Blue Bloods” in New York while McCarthy is in Los Angeles filming “The Masked Singer”—the couple has found ways to stay connected. Wahlberg shared that even when they are apart, they often keep in touch through FaceTime, allowing them to maintain a sense of closeness.
As McCarthy continues to navigate the ups and downs of marriage and personal health, her candid remarks about Wahlberg’s snoring resonate with many couples facing similar challenges, serving as a reminder that love often requires creativity and adaptability.
