Washington County Celebrates Snowplow Naming Contest Winners

The winners of Washington County’s third annual “Name a Snowplow” contest have been declared, showcasing the community’s creativity and engagement. The Washington County Department of Public Works received over 2,600 votes from residents, leading to two standout names: Duck Duck Orange Truck, which garnered 873 votes, and Blizzard of Oz, with 795 votes.

These winning snowplow names will be assigned to specific regions within the county. According to Brian Kaufenberg, a spokesperson for the county, Blizzard of Oz will primarily operate in the northern area, while Duck Duck Orange Truck will be stationed in the southern part.

The contest drew significant participation, with over 1,400 names submitted for consideration. County officials narrowed this extensive list to ten finalists, highlighting the community’s enthusiasm for the event. The other finalists included creative options such as Kirill the Chill, Slick Seven, 67, Life of a Snowgirl, Plowasaurus Rex, Chuck the Plow Truck, K Pop Blizzard Hunter, and Claire D. Way.

This initiative not only brings a light-hearted touch to the often serious job of snow removal but also fosters community spirit and involvement. The unique names are intended to make the winter season more enjoyable for residents as they navigate snow-covered roads.
