Eagles Appoint Sean Mannion as New Offensive Coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles have officially appointed Sean Mannion as their new offensive coordinator, a move announced on the evening of March 15, 2024. Mannion, who played in the NFL for nine seasons from 2015 to 2023, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having played with prominent teams including the Rams, Vikings, and Seahawks.

Mannion transitioned to coaching immediately after his playing career, starting as an offensive assistant with the Green Bay Packers in 2024. He quickly ascended to the position of quarterbacks coach in 2025. At just 33 years old, he now steps into the offensive coordinator role, following a path reminiscent of former Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who became the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator in his second coaching year.

Despite this being Mannion’s first role as an offensive coordinator, he played a pivotal part in the development of quarterback Jordan Love, who enjoyed his best statistical season in the NFL under Mannion’s guidance in 2025. While expectations suggest that Mannion will take on play-calling responsibilities, the Eagles have yet to confirm this detail.

Coaching Background and Philosophy

Throughout his playing career, Mannion had the opportunity to work with several renowned offensive strategists, including Sean McVay, Matt LaFleur, and Kevin Stefanski. His coaching experience under LaFleur connects him to the influential Mike Shanahan coaching tree, which has produced several successful NFL coaches.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni expressed enthusiasm regarding Mannion’s potential. “It was quickly apparent in meeting with Sean that he is a bright young coach with a tremendous future ahead of him in this league,” Sirianni stated. He emphasized Mannion’s systematic views on offensive football and strategic approach, noting that Mannion’s extensive experience in the NFL positions him well to contribute significantly to the Eagles’ future success.

Mannion’s appointment adds a fresh perspective to the Eagles’ coaching staff, and his familiarity with the intricacies of the game is expected to enhance the team’s offensive strategies. As he integrates into the organization, both he and his wife, Megan, have been welcomed into the Eagles family.

The Eagles look forward to a new chapter under Mannion’s leadership, hopeful that his insights and experience will lead to a successful upcoming season.
