DAZN Italia has launched its second virtual studio as part of its ongoing Innovation Hub initiative, enhancing its capabilities for live and on-demand productions. This latest development comes just a month after the unveiling of the initial studio, which has already been operational at DAZN’s production centre in Cologno Monzese.
New Studio Features and Technology Integration
The newly inaugurated studio spans 500 square meters and incorporates cutting-edge green screen technology. This stage is designed to support advanced production techniques by integrating sensors and green screen infrastructure, allowing for more dynamic and visually engaging content production.
Partnering with wTVision, DAZN aims to provide a seamless workflow through the implementation of the wVSet virtual set and augmented reality system. This collaboration leverages the capabilities of the Unreal Engine and wTVision’s R3 Space engine, creating photorealistic environments enriched with data-driven AR graphics.
The studio’s infrastructure was designed and executed by NVP and is fully compatible with DAZN’s existing broadcast galleries. It also integrates with the new facilities and control rooms established as part of the Innovation Hub project. The production setup includes four Grass Valley LDX 135 HDR cameras, Canon lenses, and advanced tracking systems, ensuring high-quality output.
Expansion of DAZN’s Innovation Strategy
The first virtual studio, which was completed in just two months, features a U-shaped LED wall and an LED floor managed by Brompton processors for optimal color performance and HDR compatibility. It was designed to be modular and scalable, serving as a foundational asset in DAZN’s strategy to innovate in content delivery.
“The creation of this new studio represents the natural completion of an innovation path shared with DAZN, designed to provide tailor-made and immediately operational solutions,” stated Ivan Pintabona, technical director at NVP.
As part of its broader vision, DAZN plans to further develop its international projects, focusing on increasingly integrated Innovation Hubs and remote centres, while also enhancing its outside broadcast (OB) van fleet. This strategic approach reflects DAZN’s commitment to staying at the forefront of sports broadcasting technology.
The second studio’s launch marks a significant milestone in DAZN’s Innovation Hub expansion, which aims to deliver cutting-edge production capabilities that cater to the evolving needs of its audience.
