Man Arrested After Shooting at Driver in Hartford Road Rage Incident

UPDATE: A man has been arrested following a shocking road rage incident that escalated to gunfire in Hartford last night. Police responded to reports of shots fired near Park and Washington Streets just before 8:40 p.m. on October 19, 2023.

The driver who reported the incident sustained damage to their vehicle from the gunfire, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police Department confirmed that a description of the suspect’s vehicle was quickly disseminated to local law enforcement.

Authorities from the Hartford Police Violent Crimes Unit and the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force swiftly located the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect has been identified as 30-year-old Lorenzo Dunn, a resident of Hartford. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter.

Inside Dunn’s vehicle, police allegedly discovered a firearm and narcotics. Further investigation revealed that Dunn had an outstanding warrant for a previous assault involving a gun earlier this year.

Dunn now faces multiple charges, including criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

As authorities continue their investigation, residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. This incident underscores the urgent need for community awareness regarding road rage and firearm safety.
