Downingtown’s New Restaurant The Borough Opens to Cheers and Excitement

UPDATE: The Borough, a thrilling new restaurant in Downingtown, officially opened its doors last week, drawing enthusiastic crowds eager to experience its unique dining concepts. Located at 149 E Lancaster Avenue, this two-level venue promises to redefine the local dining scene with a modern sports bar on the lower level and an upscale eatery above.

Diners flocked to The Borough’s grand opening, signaling a potential hit for the area. Featuring a vibrant atmosphere with neon signs, selfie walls, and an open-air design, the restaurant aims to blend the energy of Miami and Nashville, creating a fun and inviting space for all.

Guests can enjoy the downstairs sports bar, which serves elevated pub-style fare and offers over 20 craft beers on tap. Meanwhile, the upstairs dining area transforms into a lively concert hall, providing an airy setting for live music along with a full-service restaurant experience.

“We set out to create a concept that Downingtown has never seen — something dynamic, unexpected, and built entirely around the guest experience,” said co-owner Keith Critchley. He emphasized the attention to detail that went into the venue’s design and menu, aiming to create a destination where people feel excited to return.

The Borough’s unique offerings include an extensive cocktail and wine program, signature sushi dishes, and a spacious outdoor patio that enhances the relaxed, beach-inspired vibe. This outdoor area capitalizes on the need for more dining options in Downingtown, allowing guests to savor their meals in a comfortable, open-air setting.

In addition to regular dining, The Borough plans to host a variety of events, including live music performances, athlete meet-and-greets, and family-friendly activities. The upstairs area is also available for private events, catering to a range of celebrations and corporate gatherings.

JT O’Brien, co-owner, highlighted the restaurant’s mission: “Our goal was to build more than just a restaurant — we wanted to create a versatile destination that redefines the local dining scene.” He reiterated that The Borough is designed to cater to diverse preferences, whether for watching a game, enjoying brunch, or celebrating a special occasion.

The Borough will operate daily, offering lunch and dinner from 11 AM to 11 PM Sunday through Thursday, with extended hours on weekends until 12 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. A new brunch menu is set to launch in just a few weeks, starting at 10 AM on weekends.

With over 150 employees hired, The Borough is committed to supporting the local economy by sourcing ingredients from nearby farms and purveyors. This focus on community and local engagement adds another layer to its appeal.
