JetBlue Airways is enhancing its domestic flight offerings with six routes exceeding 2,500 miles. These transcontinental journeys, primarily connecting the East and West Coasts of the United States, highlight the airline’s commitment to expanding its network. Notably, the longest domestic flight will operate from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to San Francisco International Airport (SFO), covering a distance of 2,704 miles (4,351.7 km).
According to scheduling data from Cirium, JetBlue has arranged 149 outbound and 148 inbound flights for this route in October 2025, averaging between three and six round trips daily. The majority of these flights will utilize the Airbus A321-200, which features 143 economy and 16 business class seats. Some flights will also employ the Airbus A321LR, providing 24 business and 114 economy seats.
The significance of this route was underscored by John Martin, the Director of San Francisco International Airport, at its launch in 2007: “Just as SFO is committed to providing our travelers with unsurpassed safety, security, and customer service, JetBlue has created a brand that is synonymous with first-class customer service at an outstanding value.”
Additional Transcontinental Routes from Boston
JetBlue’s three longest domestic routes all originate from Boston Logan Airport. The second longest route connects Boston to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), located 2,611 miles (4,202 km) away. In October, JetBlue has scheduled 142 outbound and 141 inbound flights on this route, with operations occurring three to five times daily. Most flights will be operated by the A321-200; however, select westbound flights will utilize the A321LR, featuring a staggered Mint business class configuration.
The third-longest route extends from Boston to San Diego International Airport (SAN), recognized as the busiest single-runway airport in the United States. JetBlue plans to operate 89 round trips from Boston this month, with three daily rotations on average. This route is 2,588 miles (4,165 km) long and will be served entirely by A321-200s, some configured as all-economy with 200 seats.
Routes from New York and Florida
Beyond Boston, New York JFK Airport serves as the origin for JetBlue’s fourth and sixth-longest domestic routes. The former, linking JFK to San Francisco, spans 2,586 miles (4,161.8 km) and operates four to six times daily using A321-200s with two-class layouts.
In a notable Florida route, JetBlue connects Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to San Francisco, covering a distance of 2,583 miles (4,156.9 km). This corridor is served twice daily on most days in October, utilizing 159-seat A321-200s.
The sixth route, which connects JFK with Sacramento International Airport (SMF), is also over 2,500 miles long. This service is exclusively operated by all-economy A321-200s, featuring 200 seats, including 42 ‘Even More Space’ seats with a pitch of 37 inches, while standard economy seats offer a generous 34 inches of legroom. JetBlue continues to provide daily service on this route until October 25.
As JetBlue expands its network, the enhancement of these long-distance domestic routes illustrates the airline’s focus on providing competitive service and connectivity between major U.S. cities.
