UPDATE: Saugus is gearing up for a heartfelt tribute to its veterans as Veterans Day approaches. The town has organized multiple events that promise to honor those who served the United States, starting with a special luncheon on November 10 at 11 a.m.
The Veterans Day tribute will be hosted at the Senior Center, featuring a delicious pot pie luncheon prepared by Harrows Chicken Pies. Capt. Stephen Castinetti, U.S. Navy (retired) and commander of the Saugus Veterans Council, will serve as the master of ceremonies. Attendees can look forward to performances by the center’s Sing-a-Long Group, led by pianist Tony Sarno, singing patriotic songs that resonate with the spirit of gratitude. A dessert table, sponsored by Andrew Firman from Benefits Advisors Group, will cap off the meal. Tickets are available for just $6, but attendees must sign up in advance.
On November 11, the festivities continue with a Rolling Rally organized by Guy Moley’s car show team. Participants will gather at the Senior Center at 10 a.m. before cruising through town, passing by the Veterans Memorial and concluding at Town Hall. This slow procession is a unique way to pay respect and show appreciation for local veterans.
The main event, the annual ceremony, begins at 11 a.m. at Veterans Park, located at 1 Central St.. This gathering will bring together veterans, town officials, community members, and local organizations, all united in honoring the sacrifices made by those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The program will include speeches from community leaders, a poignant wreath-laying ceremony, and a solemn moment of silence for fallen heroes.
The Daughters of the American Revolution Parson Roby Chapter is also contributing by decorating the Town Hall lawn with a striking Field of Flags, creating a visual tribute that further emphasizes the town’s commitment to honoring its veterans.
As Saugus prepares for these significant events, the community is reminded of the dedication and sacrifices of its veterans. The upcoming days promise not only to honor their service but also to strengthen community bonds through shared remembrance and gratitude.
Stay tuned for more updates as these events unfold, and don’t miss the chance to participate in honoring those who have given so much for our freedom.
