UPDATE: A suspected arsonist has been arrested following a significant apartment fire in Redwood City, California, that occurred early Saturday morning. Firefighters rushed to the scene on the 1300 block of Marshall Street at 7:35 a.m., where flames threatened the safety of residents.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Eliaser Hernandez-Valadez. He was detained after he shockingly returned to the crime scene later that evening, according to a statement from the Redwood City Police Department.
The police and fire investigators quickly determined that the fire was potentially set intentionally. “Investigators from the police and fire department learned the fire may have been intentionally set and a suspect was identified,” Redwood City PD reported.
