UWS Dominates in Men’s Soccer, Wins UMAC Titles Amidst Drama

UPDATE: Wisconsin-Superior’s men’s soccer team has claimed their eighth consecutive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) title, finishing the regular season with an impressive unbeaten record after a dominating 8-0 victory over Martin Luther at Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium earlier today.

Bryce Boldt led the charge with two goals, while six different players contributed to the scoreline, including notable performances from Cloquet-Esko-Carlton alum Jordan Aultman. Goalkeepers Patrick Sessions and Luke Lockman combined for three saves, showcasing a solid defensive front.

The championship was already secured after their 4-0 win against Bethany Lutheran on Friday. In that match, the Yellowjackets took the lead in under two minutes and quickly extended their advantage to 3-0 within the first four minutes.

Looking ahead, UWS (14-6, 12-0 UMAC) is set to host fourth-place Crown in the tournament semifinals on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Superior.

In contrast, UWS women’s soccer faced a heartbreaking end to their four-year reign as UMAC regular-season champions. The Yellowjackets fell to Bethany Lutheran 2-1 on Friday, despite dominating with a 20-9 shot advantage. Their only goal came too late, scored by Niamh Larson in the 89th minute.

UWS (9-7-4, 8-1-3 UMAC) will travel to Mankato for the conference tournament semifinals against Bethany Lutheran on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The winner will likely face Northwestern for the championship on Saturday.

In cross country, UWS men continued their dominance, winning the UMAC championship for the eighth time overall and fifth straight in Winthrop, Minnesota, on Saturday.
