Asotin FFA Team Secures 2nd at Nationals; Violinist Shines

UPDATE: The Asotin FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team has just clinched 2nd place at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, marking a historic achievement for the group and their mentor, Glen Landrus. This momentous win was announced earlier today, highlighting the team’s exceptional skills and dedication.

The six-member team, comprised of seniors Berklie Sheppard, Stone Ausman, Spencer Conklin, Cody Ells, Noah Saltz, and junior Tegan Isley, showcased their mastery in a rigorous competition that tests knowledge of Robert’s Rules of Order. “We weren’t expecting to make the final round,” said Sheppard, reflecting on their unexpected success. This is the furthest any of Landrus’s teams have advanced in his 29-year career as an FFA adviser.

In a spirited assembly held at their high school gym at 9:30 a.m., Landrus emphasized the importance of hard work and seizing opportunities. “Winning in FFA is hard… To be excellent, you need to seize opportunity,” he told the assembled students, inspiring the next generation of leaders.

While the FFA team celebrated their remarkable finish, junior violinist Kambree Palmer also captured attention by performing at the convention. Chosen from 400 submissions nationwide, Palmer was among only 60 performers selected. Although she did not make the top 10 cut, her talent shone through as she performed in multiple venues and delivered a stirring rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” to an audience of over 10,000 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Landrus celebrated both the team’s and Palmer’s achievements, stating, “Doing what’s required will not make you great. It’s what you do above and beyond that.” This sentiment resonates powerfully as the Asotin community rallies around their talented youth.

What’s next for these accomplished students? As they return to their hometown, the focus will be on sharing their experiences and inspiring their peers to strive for excellence in all their endeavors. The Asotin FFA team’s success is not just a personal victory; it’s a beacon of possibility for students everywhere.

Stay tuned for more updates on the achievements of the Asotin FFA team and Kambree Palmer as they continue to shine brightly in their fields.
