As temperatures drop, festive cheer rises with the rink’s opening, drawing locals and tourists alike to enjoy a vibrant atmosphere. Special events including dance parties and drag performances are scheduled, enhancing the holiday spirit. Nearby businesses are poised for increased foot traffic as they prepare for the busy season ahead.

Nnan Chotiphanomvivat, general manager of The Last Drop Tavern, highlighted the excitement, stating, “It’s the most festive and vibrant time of the year for us.” The tavern is transforming into a holiday hotspot, featuring seasonal cocktails to welcome guests.

In addition to the rink, the Beacon Grand Hotel is launching its Holiday Tea in The Post Room, starting the day after Thanksgiving. Guests can indulge in delectable treats, including scones and eggnog cheesecake, adding to the community’s festive options.

The economic revival of Union Square is evident with new enterprises opening this season. Notable additions include a six-month pop-up for Dandelion Chocolate and a rotating holiday food market. These initiatives are part of the city’s Vacant to Vibrant program, aimed at transforming empty spaces into lively attractions, according to KTVU.

Marisa Rodriguez, CEO of the Union Square Alliance, expressed enthusiasm about the rink’s reopening, stating it signifies the district’s ongoing revival. She noted, “This is an iconic location in San Francisco. Why not reimagine it and meet the moment?” This sentiment resonates with the recent plans by Macy’s to revamp their flagship store in Union Square, promising more commercial draw.

Tickets for the ice rink are priced at $20 for adults and $15 for children aged eight and under. Skating hours are daily from 10 AM to 11 PM, with a special closing time of 9:30 PM on New Year’s Eve.
