UPDATE: In a decisive blow to ISIS, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reports that five terrorists were killed and 19 others captured during a series of operations in Syria. This significant development was announced on November 12, marking a critical step in diminishing ISIS’s capabilities in the region.
CENTCOM revealed that from October 1 to November 6, the U.S.-led coalition against ISIS conducted over 22 operations, successfully targeting ISIS cells in Syria. These operations led to the death of five ISIS members and the capture of 19, highlighting a concerted effort to disrupt the terrorist group’s activities.
“Our success in countering the ISIS threat in Syria is a notable achievement,” said Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. He emphasized the coalition’s commitment to continue aggressively pursuing ISIS remnants in the region. “We will work with the Global Coalition Against ISIS to ensure the gains made against the group in Iraq and Syria are lasting and that ISIS is not able to regenerate or export terrorist attacks to other countries.”
This latest operation reflects a significant decrease in ISIS’s operational capabilities, with a total of 24 members neutralized in recent months. The U.S. military’s ongoing efforts are aimed at ensuring stability and preventing the resurgence of extremist activities in the region.
As the situation develops, CENTCOM will continue to monitor and engage with local forces to maintain pressure on ISIS and safeguard international security. This operation not only impacts Syria but also has global implications, as the coalition works tirelessly to prevent the export of terrorism to other nations.
Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving situation as CENTCOM remains committed to disrupting ISIS’s network and maintaining regional security.
