BREAKING: Antigone G. Sotos, 88, of West Lawn, has passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. The community mourns the loss of a cherished matriarch who dedicated her life to family and tradition.
Born on December 14, 1936, in Neochori, Greece, Antigone immigrated to the United States in 1963. She worked as a seamstress at Letisse, Inc. until 1986, later continuing her craft at Juliette Originals and Narrow Fabrics until 2002. Antigone was passionate about her Greek heritage, actively participating in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Reading.
Antigone was predeceased by her husband, Lambros G. Sotos, in 2014, after sharing an incredible 52 years of marriage. She is survived by three children: George L. with partner Kelly Gahan in Doylestown, Fani L. married to James Polyak in Wyomissing, and Eleni L. in San Rafael, California. The family includes five grandchildren: Samantha, Evan, Nicholas, Alexia, and Ajay.
Known for her exceptional baking and cooking skills, Antigone took immense joy in preparing traditional Greek meals for her family, often delighting her grandchildren with lavish weekend feasts. Her legacy of love and devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Church, located at 1001 East Wyomissing Blvd., Reading. Rev. Father Theodore Petrides will preside over the service. Friends and family are welcomed to pay their respects from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church, with interment to follow at Charles Evans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Church. Arrangements are being handled by Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., in West Reading.
