BREAKING: Gerald R. Cote, a renowned former Vice President of the General Electric Company, has passed away at the age of 85. Cote died on November 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy in engineering and a love for sports that touched many lives.
Born on July 21, 1940, in Derry, NH, Cote graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Engineering. His career at GE spanned over three decades, during which he advanced through various management roles across the country. He ultimately served as Vice President in both Louisville, KY, and Schenectady, NY.
Cote was not only a dedicated professional but also a beloved family man. He married his high school sweetheart, Sally, in July 1963. Together, they enjoyed a lifetime of happiness until her passing, along with their son, Brian. Cote was an enthusiastic sports lover, excelling in multiple sports during high school and later playing football in college.
His passion extended to coaching his son in little league and high school baseball, where he made lasting memories. In his later years, Cote developed a love for golf, competing and enjoying quality time with friends and family. A devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, he rarely missed a game, either watching or listening with great enthusiasm.
Cote is survived by his two sons, Andrew (Sydney) and Christopher (Julia), along with two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer, who brought him immense joy in his later years.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no service held for Cote. Instead, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Foundation for Ellis Hospital, located at 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
