URGENT UPDATE: A free spay/neuter clinic has just opened in Austin, running from November 13 through November 17, 2025, providing essential services for pets in Austin and Travis County. This initiative, a collaboration between Austin Animal Services and Greater Good Charities, aims to help alleviate the financial burden many pet owners face with veterinary care.
The clinic will offer not only spay and neuter procedures but also free vaccinations, microchips, and flea/tick prevention treatments. “As Austin’s municipal shelter, we’re committed to making sure every pet owner—no matter their income or neighborhood—has access to the services that keep pets healthy and communities safe,” said Rolando Fernandez, Interim Director of Animal Services.
This urgent initiative is a direct response to the ongoing crisis of animal overpopulation, which contributes to the growing number of stray and homeless pets in the area. The free clinic, which marks the sixth event of its kind over the past year, aims to provide services to 1,200 pets in need. In previous events, over 5,000 pets have already benefited from free surgeries.
Pet owners are strongly encouraged to arrive early at the clinic located at 11580 Stonehollow Dr., Suite 160, Austin, TX 78758. Registration begins at 6:00 AM and runs until 10:00 AM or until capacity is reached. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, so prompt arrival is critical.
This clinic not only provides immediate assistance but also aims to promote responsible pet ownership and enhance community safety. While the initiative is expected to attract large crowds, the focus remains on uplifting the lives of pets and their owners, reinforcing the belief that every animal deserves access to quality care.
As the city prepares for another event set for early 2026, organizers emphasize the importance of this community-based effort in ensuring that pet health care remains accessible to all. The ongoing commitment demonstrates a progressive stance on animal welfare in a city that values all living beings.
For those interested in participating, this is an opportune moment to take advantage of free, vital services for pets. Don’t miss out on this chance to contribute to a healthier community!
