The Bay Metropolitan Transportation Authority is launching its annual “Stuff the Bus” food drive to address local food insecurity. From November 17 to November 22, 2023, community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items in exchange for free bus rides. This initiative aims to support those in need while promoting community engagement.
During the event, drivers from Bay Metro’s Linehaul and DART services will actively collect food donations to stock local food pantries. Donations can also be made at a designated collection box located in the lobby of the Central Bus Station at 1124 Washington Ave. This effort not only assists individuals facing food shortages but also fosters a spirit of cooperation within the community.
The “Stuff the Bus” campaign reflects Bay Metro’s commitment to social responsibility and providing a reliable service for residents. By offering free rides to those who contribute, the organization encourages participation and highlights the importance of collective action in tackling food insecurity.
For more details on how to get involved or to stay updated on the event, residents can visit the Bay Metro Transit Facebook page or check the official website at baymetro.com. This initiative serves as a reminder of the vital role local organizations play in supporting their communities, especially during challenging times.
