UPDATE: A dramatic rescue unfolded in Chester late Wednesday night as firefighters and police rushed to save a 2-year-old trapped inside a burning home. At approximately 8:40 p.m., emergency responders received urgent calls reporting a house fire on the 200 block of Wilson Street, with reports that a child may still be inside.
Upon arrival, first responders were met with devastating conditions, including flames visible from the side and rear of the structure, along with heavy smoke. Fire crews quickly confirmed the presence of the child, who was located in a crib on the second floor. As the situation escalated, the fire chief reported flames breaking through the roof, prompting the activation of a second alarm.
Firefighters swiftly deployed a ladder truck to reach the second floor, where police were already engaged in rescue operations. Simultaneously, an additional ambulance was called to the scene for a second victim—a separate individual suffering from burns to the upper body, who was later found walking about the scene.
