A unique dining experience has launched in Osaka, Japan, where patrons can enjoy meals suspended 130 feet in the air. The “sky restaurant,” known as Dinner in the Sky, recently opened at the Nakanoshima Gate South Pier in the Nishi ward and will operate until December 28, 2023. This culinary event, originally established in Belgium in 2006, allows diners to savor light meals and beverages while securely seated at a table with 22 built-in chairs.
The concept of dining high above the ground has gained international popularity, with Dinner in the Sky being hosted more than 10,000 times across 65 countries, including locations in Britain and India. Osaka marks the second Japanese city to feature this aerial dining experience, following a successful run in Tokyo from March to May earlier this year.
Diners at the event are strapped in with seat belts for safety, allowing them to enjoy their 30-minute meal while taking in panoramic views of the Osaka skyline. The experience includes two pricing tiers, ranging from 22,000 yen (approximately $142.55) to 28,000 yen, depending on the chosen menu.
Reservations are mandatory, with six daily sessions available, starting at 4 p.m.. This unique dining option not only offers a thrilling atmosphere but also a chance to relish culinary delights from a breathtaking vantage point. As the event draws attention from locals and tourists alike, it promises to be a memorable addition to Osaka’s dining scene.
