ReLakes Professional Massage in Detroit Lakes has introduced two new wellness offerings: a salt float therapy tank and a salt floor therapy room. The massage center, located in the Washington Square Mall, has expanded its services to enhance relaxation and therapeutic benefits for its clientele.
Owned by Stacy Morris, ReLakes now occupies approximately 2,000 square feet, featuring a variety of treatment rooms staffed by nine experienced massage therapists. These practitioners provide a wide range of massage techniques, including deep tissue, Swedish, hot stone, and sports massage. Each session is tailored to meet individual client needs, often combining different methods for optimal relief.
Innovative Salt Therapy Options
The newly launched salt floor therapy room, also known as halotherapy, provides a unique environment where clients can relax on a floor made of Himalayan pink salt. The room is designed to promote respiratory health by allowing visitors to inhale micro-salt particles released into the air. This therapy aims to alleviate conditions such as mucus buildup and inflammation in the lungs, as well as support skin health for non-contagious conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Morris emphasizes that the calming atmosphere is enhanced by soothing music and ambient lighting, creating a tranquil experience for those seeking relief from stress. The halogenerator, a specialized machine, grinds pure salt into tiny particles and disperses them throughout the room, maximizing the therapeutic benefits.
Adjacent to the salt room is the salt float therapy tank, which holds 11 inches of Epsom saltwater. This spacious tank accommodates two individuals, allowing friends or couples to float together. The water temperature is maintained at a comfortable 93.5 degrees, matching that of the air, which helps clients feel weightless and relaxed.
“This therapy is beneficial for chronic pain sufferers, including those with fibromyalgia or arthritis,” Morris explained. “For individuals who may not prefer traditional massage, floating provides a non-invasive way to experience relief.” Clients can enjoy an hour-long session, which includes a pre-float shower, for a fee of $64.73.
After each appointment, the water undergoes a rigorous cleaning process that includes a 15-minute filtration cycle, ensuring high hygiene standards. According to Morris, the filter is so effective that not even hair can pass through it. “The water’s cleanliness is superior to that of drinking water,” she noted, adding that approximately 25 50-pound bags of salt are dissolved in the tank.
Community Engagement and Future Plans
Morris, originally from North Dakota, moved to Detroit Lakes with her family in November 2017. She previously worked at Revive Professional Massage in Fargo, where she trained under Rachel Alderson, the owner. In 2022, Morris purchased the business from Alderson, fulfilling a long-standing goal to establish herself in Detroit Lakes.
In a bid to connect with the community, ReLakes Professional Massage is hosting its first open house on November 22, 2023, from 15:00 to 18:00. This event will allow potential clients to explore the facility, meet the staff, and learn more about the new therapies offered. “I’m really excited about this event, as it’s a chance for people to see our space and what we offer,” Morris stated.
Additionally, the open house will feature Christmas gift card specials, giving attendees the opportunity to purchase wellness experiences for their loved ones. Visitors can also roll the dice for extra perks when they book future appointments during the event.
ReLakes Professional Massage operates Monday to Friday from 08:15 to 20:30, on Saturdays from 08:45 to 17:00, and Sundays from 10:00 to 15:00 or 17:00. Clients can book appointments online through the ReLakes website or by calling 218-844-8898.
