This tornado hit during one of the busiest travel days of the Thanksgiving holiday, with heavy rain and severe thunderstorms expected in southern regions throughout the day.
Witnesses recounted the chaotic experience, with locals like Miriam Harris describing the storm’s ferocity. “I had the door and I was trying to hold it shut so that nothing would end up in the house,” Harris told KTRK-TV. Her property sustained significant roof and tree damage, and her holiday light display was destroyed.
The tornado’s path extended through several communities, including Klein, located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) north of Houston.
