Robert “Bob” Milton Martin Remembered for His Lifelong Dedication

Robert “Bob” Milton Martin, a beloved figure in his community, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, at the age of 83. His life, marked by dedication to family, work, and faith, has left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Born on May 25, 1942, in Mecklenburg County, Bob was the son of the late William Martin and Julia Estelle Smith Martin. He entered the world with a steadfast spirit and a generous heart, attributes that defined his journey through life. As a cherished husband, father, and friend, Bob was known for his unwavering support and guidance to all.

In 1979, Bob fulfilled a lifelong ambition by founding his own trucking business. His commitment to this venture demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to hard work. After more than four decades in the industry, he retired in 2020 at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and integrity.

Faith and Community Engagement

Bob’s faith played a crucial role in his life. He was a longtime member of Lebanon Methodist Church in Mill Spring, North Carolina, where he lived out his beliefs daily. Bob offered kindness, wisdom, and encouragement to everyone he encountered, embodying the values he held dear. His life served as an inspiration to many, and his memory will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters, Rebecca, Francis, Kathleen, and Joyce, as well as his brother, Bill. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sandra Hunt Martin, and his daughter, Kelly Martin Hicks, along with her husband, Dallas Hicks. The breadth of his friendships and community ties reflects the profound impact he had on those around him.
