Amazon has announced a significant investment of $4 billion aimed at enhancing its operations in rural America. This initiative includes the establishment of a same-day delivery station in Broken Arrow, alongside additional facilities in Weatherford and Perry. The various projects are set to be operational by next year, contributing to a nationwide strategy to bolster logistics in less densely populated areas.
The same-day delivery station in Broken Arrow will streamline the fulfillment, sorting, and delivery processes, thereby improving overall efficiency. This facility is projected to create over 100 full- and part-time jobs in the region. According to Amber Miller, Vice President of Economic Development for Broken Arrow, “Amazon’s investment is another strong signal of Broken Arrow’s momentum.” She highlighted the collaborative environment fostered within the community, which aims to provide ongoing opportunities.
In addition to the Broken Arrow location, the new facilities in Weatherford and Perry will serve as traditional delivery warehouses. Collectively, these projects are expected to generate more than 500 jobs across the state, showcasing Amazon’s commitment to investing in Oklahoma’s workforce and infrastructure.
House Speaker Pro Tempore Anthony Moore expressed enthusiasm regarding the investment, stating, “My constituents in western Oklahoma are thrilled with Amazon’s investment in the community and can’t wait to receive faster deliveries and new job opportunities.” He emphasized that this expansion underscores Oklahoma’s favorable business policies and the state’s appeal to world-class companies.
As the facilities prepare to open in 2024, local leaders and economic development partners are commended for their efforts in bringing Amazon to the state. The new operations not only promise job creation but also aim to enhance the logistical capabilities of the region, allowing residents to enjoy quicker access to Amazon’s extensive range of products.
