Caltrans Continues Erosion Control Work on Highway 37

Caltrans is advancing its Capital Preventive Maintenance Project on State Route 37 (SR-37) in January, focusing on erosion control between Atherton Avenue and the Petaluma River Bridge in Novato. Beginning on Monday, January 8, 2024, the agency will implement daytime closures on both the westbound and eastbound lanes of SR-37, which are expected to last through Friday, January 12, 2024.

The eastbound work will occur daily from 07:00 to 13:00, while the westbound operations will be conducted from 09:00 to 17:00. Motorists should anticipate potential intermittent ramp closures, particularly at the US-101 interchange, as well as the Hanna Ranch Road and Atherton Avenue exits along SR-37. All construction activities are subject to weather conditions.

Caltrans is undertaking essential paving and median barrier work in Novato. The project involves grinding and repaving approximately three miles of roadway, specifically from the Ignacio overhead to the Petaluma River Bridge. This maintenance is crucial for improving safety and extending the lifespan of the infrastructure.

As the work progresses, the agency encourages drivers to plan their routes accordingly and remain alert for changing traffic patterns. The goal is to ensure minimal disruption while enhancing the roadway’s condition for future use.
