Downtown Kannapolis is set to celebrate the inaugural Cupid Kannapolis event from February 7 to 15, 2024, aimed at promoting local shopping and dining during the Valentine season. The initiative, coordinated by former Downtown Kannapolis president and Falls Jewelers employee Caleb Falls, seeks to enhance community engagement and support local businesses.
Exciting Offers and Local Participation
The Cupid Kannapolis event features a variety of special offers from local restaurants and shops. For instance, West Loop Local will provide a champagne and charcuterie deal for just $16 on February 13. Meanwhile, Towel City Tavern is promoting a romantic dinner for two at $90, which includes an appetizer, two entrees, a dessert, and a bottle of wine. Local bakery Eat Cakes is also joining the festivities, offering an array of Valentine’s treats such as chocolate-covered strawberries and heart-shaped cakes.
In addition to food, local boutiques are participating in the celebration. Sweetest Beginnings will feature scratch-off conversation hearts for discounts, alongside a 15 percent discount on all Valentine-themed items. At Once in a Blue Moon, customers can enjoy a buy-one-get-one half-off deal on mixed metal earrings. The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are enticing shoppers with a 15 percent discount on all red merchandise purchased in-store.
Community Engagement and Special Events
Local groomer Carolina Groom Room is extending the celebration to pets by offering complimentary Valentine bows and bandanas for dogs being groomed during the event. Beyond consumer products, various businesses are emphasizing unique experiences. For example, SoFul West Avenue will offer a free class to first-time visitors accompanied by a member through February 15. Additionally, Falls Jewelers is providing a complimentary 30-minute massage with purchases over $300 and a date night at Towel City Tavern for purchases exceeding $600.
Caleb Falls highlighted the importance of collaboration among businesses for initiatives like this, stating, “It’s a huge help when we have a business that we want to participate and coordinate with.” The event is designed not only to uplift individual businesses but to foster a sense of community spirit.
Several activities are also planned for Valentine’s and Galentine’s Day. On February 7, a Galentine’s Shop Hop will take place from 12:00 to 16:00, featuring local vendors along Main Street and cocktail tastings at Southern Collective. On February 14, West Loop Local will host a DJ from 20:00 to 00:00 to celebrate the holiday. Additionally, The Swinging Medallions will perform at the Swanee Theatre on February 13 at 20:00, with two free tickets available through the theatre’s social media channels.
Caleb Falls noted the significance of the Cupid Kannapolis event following challenging winter weather, emphasizing the collective support for local businesses: “When one person succeeds, we all succeed.” This initiative illustrates the community’s commitment to revitalizing local commerce and creating a festive experience for residents and visitors alike.
