Hilco Global has appointed Mitch Friedel as executive director, aiming to bolster its expertise in retail development and mixed-use projects. Friedel’s role will focus on assisting owners and developers in enhancing their retail-driven environments. This strategic move is intended to expand Hilco’s capabilities in an evolving market.
In a statement regarding Friedel’s appointment, Neil Aaronson, president of Hilco Global, Americas, and executive director of real estate advisory, emphasized his extensive background. “Mitch brings a history of successful outcomes for some of the most healthy and vibrant large-scale retail and mixed-use developments in numerous high-growth North American markets,” he noted.
Over the past three decades, Friedel has led numerous high-profile projects, including the Time Warner Center in Manhattan, CityPlace in West Palm Beach, and the ambitious $1 billion redevelopment of Disney Springs in Orlando. His experience positions him well to drive Hilco’s initiatives in retail and mixed-use development.
Friedel expressed enthusiasm about joining Hilco, describing it as “an organization with significant retail experience and momentum.” He highlighted the company’s unique integrated platform, which offers professional services, principal investing, and capital solutions. This combination, he believes, will provide clients with valuable expertise in long-term asset value creation.
Last year, Hilco became a subsidiary of Orix Corp. USA, a diversified financial services firm. This relationship enhances Hilco’s financial capabilities, allowing it to directly lend to clients seeking to expand their brick-and-mortar retail presence. With this new structure, Hilco is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of the retail sector.
As the retail landscape continues to evolve, Friedel’s leadership is expected to play a crucial role in advancing Hilco’s goals and facilitating growth for its clients.
