Tuskers Furniture to Close All Stores After Major Liquidation Sale

A well-known furniture retailer, Tuskers Home Store and Tuskers Furniture & Patio Outlet, has announced the closure of all its locations following a significant liquidation sale. After nearly two decades of operation, the stores in the Florida Panhandle will cease business, with a final operational date set for December 26, 2025. This date marks the end of an era for Tuskers, which has been a staple in the community since its inception in 2008.

According to Furniture Today, the owner of Tuskers is retiring, prompting the decision to shut down. As part of the closure, Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) will assist in a major liquidation event on the same day, offering all remaining products in the showroom for sale. The showroom spans 28,000 square feet and includes both furniture and the space itself.

Tom Liddell, senior vice president at PFP, emphasized the store’s impact, stating, “Tuskers Home Store has been a meaningful part of this community, and their commitment to customers shows in the loyalty they’ve built. We’re honored to help them navigate this important chapter.”

Community Impact and Business Background

Tuskers Home Store opened in Miramar Beach, located approximately 153 miles west of Tallahassee. Over the years, it gained popularity for its quality furniture and coastal-inspired designs, appealing to local homeowners and visitors alike. The store was praised for using reclaimed woods in its products and for offering meticulously crafted outdoor living items and room packages.

In 2012, Tuskers expanded its offerings by opening the Furniture & Patio Outlet. This decision aligned with the growing demand from homeowners seeking to furnish newly acquired coastal properties. After years of dedicated service, the store’s closure reflects broader trends within the retail furniture industry.

Industry Trends and Recent Closures

The closure of Tuskers Home Store is part of a larger trend affecting the furniture retail sector. Many retailers have faced challenges in recent years, leading to an increase in store closures. For instance, American Signature Furniture (ASF), a chain with a history spanning 75 years, has announced closures at several locations nationwide, including in Michigan. Employees reported discounts ranging from 25% to 50% on select items as the company reevaluates its business strategy.

In a statement, Pat Sanderson, COO of ASF, described the closures as a “strategic business decision” aimed at long-term growth. Shortly thereafter, ASF filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, seeking to restructure and find a viable path forward.

Similarly, Metro Mattress Corp recently shut down all its stores following a bankruptcy filing in October 2023. At Home, another retailer, filed for bankruptcy in June while announcing 31 closures, citing economic pressures as a contributing factor to its difficulties.

As Tuskers Home Store prepares to close its doors, the community and customers reflect on the years of service and commitment the retailer has provided. The upcoming liquidation sale will mark a significant transition for both the business and its loyal clientele.
