The annual Holiday Sing-Along, Tree Lighting, and Downtown Stroll is set to take place on December 6, 2025, at the Texas State Capitol from 17:00 to 20:00. Hosted by KUT News, KUTX 98.9, and the Downtown Austin Alliance, this family-friendly event marks the beginning of the festive season in Austin, Texas.
As part of the celebration, attendees will enjoy a community sing-along led by well-known personalities from KUT News and KUTX Music. This tradition, which began with John Aielli in the 1980s, invites participants to join in singing classic holiday songs. To assist with the lyrics, each participant will receive a complimentary keepsake songbook.
The highlight of the evening will be the countdown to the lighting of a majestic 45-foot tree at the intersection of 11th Street and Congress Avenue, located on the southern edge of the Capitol grounds. This moment is anticipated to bring together families and friends, creating a warm atmosphere of community spirit as the tree shines brightly against the evening sky.
In addition to the sing-along and tree lighting, the event will feature a leisurely downtown stroll, allowing participants to enjoy the festive decorations adorning the city. This annual gathering not only fosters a sense of togetherness but also showcases the vibrant culture of Austin during the holiday season.
Mark your calendars for December 6, and prepare to embrace the holiday spirit with music, lights, and community camaraderie at the Texas State Capitol.
