Nick Cannon Discusses Relationship Preferences on Podcast

Nick Cannon recently revealed his thoughts on relationship dynamics during the November 26, 2023, episode of his podcast, Nick Cannon @ Night. The entertainer expressed a strong aversion to the idea of having a “freak” wife and discussed his views on intimacy within serious relationships.

Cannon, who was married to singer Mariah Carey from 2008 to 2016, explained that he does not find the notion of engaging in “super freaky stuff” appealing when it comes to a life partner. He stated, “If I was in a serious relationship, or with someone that I believe was potentially my wife or life partner, I don’t want to do super freaky stuff with them.”

He elaborated on his perspective by addressing what he calls the “Madonna-wh**e” complex. This psychological concept categorizes women into two distinct types: the virtuous Madonna and the bold, sensual figure. Cannon indicated that he is currently in therapy and is working through his feelings about relationships. “I can be honest enough to say I didn’t want my wife to be a freak. I didn’t want to do threesomes with my wife. I want my wife to be my wife, and I can get my threesomes elsewhere,” he remarked.

His co-host, Megan Botnick, challenged Cannon’s views, suggesting that even men with “Madonna”-like partners may still desire adventurous relationships. In response, Cannon maintained his stance, asserting, “I honestly believe men grow out of that stage as well.” He emphasized that maturity plays a significant role in evolving relationship desires. “I think everybody matures and probably wants a little slower lifestyle,” he added.

Cannon, known for his extensive family, has twelve children from various partners. He has previously discussed his romantic history lightheartedly on the podcast, admitting that he has lost track of the number of women he has been with over the years. “We joke, we have fun… But I think a person’s history is important. I wanna know everything. I don’t need to know the exact number. I lost count a long time ago. But I would like to know a little bit. At least from college forward,” he stated.

Through this candid discussion, Cannon explores his relationship philosophy, shedding light on his personal growth and evolving views on intimacy. His reflections provide insight into the complexities of modern relationships and the importance of understanding personal preferences within them.
