Ski Films Celebrate Winter Sports at Local Theaters and Brewpubs

Ski enthusiasts can look forward to a series of films celebrating the thrill of winter sports as the ski season approaches in Colorado. The annual ski movie showings are set to commence soon, with numerous events scheduled at local theaters and brewpubs.

On October 25, Teton Gravity Research will screen its latest film, “Pressure Drop,” at Wibby Brewing in Longmont. This film commemorates 30 years of TGR productions, showcasing stunning visuals and exhilarating skiing adventures. Meanwhile, the much-anticipated “Sno-Ciety,” the 76th film from Warren Miller Entertainment, will feature five showings at the Boulder Theater from November 13 to 15, followed by three additional screenings at the Paramount Theater in Denver on November 21 and 22.

The Warren Miller film, which premiered in Salt Lake City last weekend, includes breathtaking segments filmed in iconic locations such as Mammoth, California, British Columbia, Scotland, Finland, Steamboat Springs, and at the world alpine ski championships held in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria. Notably, a segment shot at Denver’s Ruby Hill Rail Yard terrain park runs for over nine minutes and emphasizes themes of fun and inclusivity.

Matchstick Productions will also present its film, “After the Snowfall,” on November 6 at Wood Boss Brewing in Denver. This production features segments filmed at various locations, including Arapahoe Basin, Steamboat, Alaska, Norway, and Japan.

Colorado ski resorts are gearing up for the season with snowmaking operations currently underway at several locations, including Arapahoe Basin, Loveland, Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Winter Park, Vail, and Beaver Creek. These preparations signal that the ski season is just around the corner.

The upcoming screenings not only highlight the excitement of skiing but also bring communities together to celebrate the sport. As the winter months approach, these films provide an opportunity for both avid skiers and newcomers to appreciate the beauty and thrill of winter sports.
