Dr. Jay Kim and Dr. Daria H. Lee have officially joined the dental clinic at the FHP Health Center, enhancing the clinic’s capacity to provide comprehensive dental services. Their combined expertise is expected to significantly benefit military personnel and their families.
Dr. Kim’s Extensive Background in Dentistry
Dr. Kim brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as a general dentist at the Apra Harbor Dental Clinic in Santa Rita, Guam. During his tenure, he played a key role in establishing a new dental clinic designed to boost productivity. Prior to this, he served at the Naval Base Guam Branch Dental Clinic and the Naval Branch Dental Clinic at Sewell’s Point in Norfolk, Virginia.
He earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from Boston University, graduating magna cum laude. His training spans various specialties, including endodontics, oral surgery, and prosthodontics, reflecting his commitment to comprehensive patient care. Dr. Kim is also proficient in CAD/CAM dentistry, which facilitates quick turnaround times for dental crowns. His successful implementation of Genesis in the dental department streamlined the transition to military electronic health records.
With licenses to practice in both Guam and Virginia, Dr. Kim holds a BLS Certification from the American Red Cross. His professional achievements include maintaining a dental operational readiness rate of 97% for military deployment and achieving the highest production levels among Navy dental lieutenants during his credentialing tour.

Dr. Lee’s Expertise in Advanced Dental Procedures
Joining Dr. Kim is Dr. Lee, who recently served as a Dental Officer in the US Navy at USNMRTC Guam and aboard the USS Osborne. Her proficiency in restorative treatments, extractions, and endodontics has positively impacted numerous military personnel and their families. Dr. Lee also held the role of interim department head, where she managed staff, equipment, and developed Standard Operating Procedures for Infection Control.
Dr. Lee completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. In addition to her studies, she acted as a floating instructor for the Explorations in Dentistry program, leading courses in Alginate Impression and Head and Neck Anatomy. Her training includes specialized experience in CEREC/CAD/CAM technology and ceramic veneers.
Holding a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Honors from Michigan State University, Dr. Lee has developed a keen understanding of patient behavior and communication. Throughout her military service, she maintained a remarkable 99% dental readiness for naval sailors and led patient safety audits, reinforcing her commitment to high standards in dental care.
Dr. Lee has received numerous honors, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2022 and the Patient Care Safety Champion Award from US Naval Hospital Guam in 2021. She is fluent in both Korean and English and holds active dental licenses in Guam and Michigan. Her professional affiliations include the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association.
