Family Mourns Loss of Duane Weitzel, Celebrated Community Figure

On November 21, 2025, Duane Robert Weitzel passed away after a prolonged battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Surrounded by his family, the respected community member and business owner is remembered for his contributions to both his family and the local community in Minnesota.

Duane is survived by three children: Brenda Marie Moody (Greg) of Robbinsdale, Duane Donald Weitzel (known as Erik) (Jonathan Willis) of Golden Valley, Minnesota, and Chad Issac Weitzel of Crystal. He also leaves behind a legacy of six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, a testament to his commitment to family. The grandchildren are Tyler Wayne Moody of White Bear Lake, Shane Robert Moody (Reagan) of Plymouth, Wyatt Gregory Moody of Stacy, Cleigh Joseph Moody (Amira) of Princeton, Drew Quentin Moody of Stacy, and Troy Brendan Moody of Stacy. The great-grandchildren include Hunter Moody, Ashley Moody (Wyatt), Jett Moody, and Wayde Moody (Cleigh).

Duane dedicated much of his life to his work at South St. Paul BeeLine, starting at the age of 16. After a brief three-year period in the Navy, he returned to the business, eventually owning it for the last 20 years before his retirement. His commitment to his profession and the community earned him respect and admiration.

Cooking was one of Duane’s greatest passions. He collected a variety of cookbooks and often shared his culinary skills with family and friends at their lake gatherings. Additionally, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, which were integral parts of his life. Those who knew him will particularly miss his infectious laugh and sense of humor, which left a lasting impact on everyone around him.

Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Marie Weitzel, and sisters Carole Biscoe and Sharon Euerle. A celebration of his life is scheduled for December 7, 2025, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory.
