Born on January 27, 1982, in Waukegan, she faced significant health challenges including Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Despite these obstacles, Kathleen’s life was characterized by her enduring spirit, love for family, and passion for animals.

Kathleen was adopted by the Bergquist family, who welcomed her with immense joy. Her adoptive parents, Richard and Susan, provided her with a nurturing environment that allowed her to thrive. The family expressed gratitude for the exceptional care Kathleen received from Children’s Memorial Hospital and Northwest, which played a vital role in her life.

A Passion for Animals and Community Service

Throughout her life, Kathleen developed a profound love for animals, particularly horses. She was an accomplished horseback rider who volunteered at Friends for Therapeutic Equine Activities, where she was known for her dedication to caring for the animals. Kathleen also worked alongside veterinarian Dr. Eganhouse, assisting with various tasks and training her own dog for licensed therapy visitations.

In addition to her work with animals, Kathleen was an enthusiastic swimmer and competed in the Special Olympics. She embodied the spirit of care and compassion, frequently taking on the role of caregiver for her younger siblings. Her legacy of kindness and dedication to helping others will be cherished by those who knew her.

Kathleen’s family includes her siblings David, Steven, Jeffrey, Debbie, Mary, Michael David, Faith, and Crista Rose, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Noelle Joy and Gloria Christine. The love and support of her family were evident throughout her life, and they will miss her dearly.

Visitation and Memorial Services

A visitation for Kathleen will take place at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Homes & Crematory, located at 516 S. Washington St., on Saturday, January 10, 2026. The visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a service at 1 p.m. Kathleen will be laid to rest at Naperville Cemetery, where family and friends can honor her memory.
