In a heartwarming initiative, the UC Davis Children’s Hospital has launched its seventh annual Virtual Holiday Toy Drive, allowing individuals to donate gifts to pediatric patients spending the holidays in the hospital. Running until December 24, 2023, this event enables donors to select items directly from a wish list or contribute funds toward gift purchases.
Bringing Joy to Young Patients
The Virtual Holiday Toy Drive aims to spread cheer among children and their families during a time when many will be unable to celebrate at home. Contributions will benefit not only the UC Davis Children’s Hospital but also the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UC Davis MIND Institute. This initiative ensures that gifts are provided to pediatric patients throughout the holiday season, enhancing their hospital experience.
In addition to holiday gifts, donations will help support the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department. This funding will be instrumental in purchasing toys and games throughout the year for patients’ birthdays and other significant milestones. It will also help stock hospital playrooms, providing a source of comfort and joy year-round.
Community Support Makes a Difference
“We are so grateful for the generosity of our community,” stated Diana Sundberg, manager of the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department. “Every donation helps bring joy and comfort to children and families spending their holidays in the hospital. Your support truly makes the season brighter for our patients.”
The Virtual Holiday Toy Drive exemplifies how collective efforts can significantly impact the lives of those facing medical challenges. By participating, individuals can help create a festive atmosphere for young patients and their families during what can be a difficult time.
