Brainerd High School Key Club Launches Food Drive This Halloween

The Brainerd High School Key Club is set to combat hunger in the Brainerd lakes area this Halloween by collecting non-perishable food items instead of candy. The initiative, named “We Scare Hunger,” encourages community members to contribute food and goods, which will support the Brainerd High School Warrior Warehouse and the Salvation Army Food Shelf.

This event will take place from 18:00 to 20:30 on October 31, 2023. Residents can prepare items for collection or leave them outside their doors for students to pick up. The Key Club aims to reach several neighborhoods, including Memorywood Drive, the Southdale area, Highland Scenic Drive, Parkwood Drive, Knollwood Drive, Gregory Park, and Buffalo Hills Park.

Participants are encouraged to donate a variety of items, such as non-perishable canned goods, instant microwavable meals, fruit snacks, cracker packs, ramen noodles, and peanut butter. Additionally, personal care items like cough drops, lip balm, and winter accessories such as socks, gloves, and hats are also needed.

Donations can be left outside doors in bags or dropped off at the main office of Brainerd High School during school hours from October 27 through November 7, 2023. Cash donations and gift cards are also welcome, providing a versatile way for community members to contribute to this worthy cause.

Brainerd High School Key Club’s efforts reflect a commitment to addressing food insecurity in the area, benefiting both students and local residents in need. By encouraging participation in this food drive, the Key Club hopes to foster a spirit of community and support during a season typically associated with fun and festivities.
