Community Gathers for Thanksgiving Meals in Pasadena

Union Station Homeless Services (USHS) delivered a heartwarming Thanksgiving celebration on November 26, 2025, in Pasadena, California. The event provided both on-site and to-go meals to community members, reflecting the spirit of generosity and compassion that defined the holiday.

The Thanksgiving meal service took place at the USHS Adult Center located at 412 S Raymond Blvd. Community members were welcomed to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving spread, which included turkey, stuffing, and various sides. Notably, no personal information was required for guests to receive meals, allowing everyone to partake without barriers.

Community Participation and Support

Prominent figures from the area joined in to support the event, including actor Adina Porter and Rep. Laura Friedman (D-Burbank). Friedman expressed gratitude for the volunteers and staff who made the meal service successful. “I am thankful for all the volunteers and staff that have helped make this year’s meal service a success, as well as all the families that come out to celebrate with us,” she stated.

In addition to local officials, USHS received significant donations to support their efforts. Music icon David Lee Roth contributed generously, along with $25,000 from the Green Foundation and $15,000 from Bigo Live. These contributions were instrumental in ensuring that no one in the community would go hungry this Thanksgiving.

Porter, who attended the event on behalf of Feeding America, emphasized the importance of addressing food insecurity. Having lost her home in the Eaton fire earlier this year, she reflected, “I wish we didn’t live in a world where there was so much food insecurity, but I am beyond grateful that there’s an organization like Feeding America that is fulfilling a need.”

Ongoing Community Efforts

For over fifty years, USHS has ensured that anyone who seeks a warm Thanksgiving meal is welcomed. This year, the need for such services was particularly pressing, as many community members face rising grocery prices and cuts to federal food benefits. The USHS event exemplified the ongoing commitment to providing support for those in need.

Alongside the meal service, Kathryn Barger, Los Angeles County Supervisor, engaged in her annual Day of Giving on the eve of Thanksgiving, leading various community service initiatives. Activities included assisting a family affected by the Eaton fire by helping to rebuild their home, serving meals to seniors, and supporting food distribution events throughout the Fifth District.

Barger’s volunteer efforts are part of a broader push to strengthen community ties and ensure that vulnerable populations receive essential support. This marks the eighth consecutive year she has hosted the Day of Giving, underscoring her commitment to community service.

As the Thanksgiving festivities wrapped up, the collaborative spirit of the Pasadena community shone brightly, with volunteers and residents united in the mission of compassion and generosity. The USHS event not only provided nourishment but also fostered a sense of belonging and hope for many individuals and families this holiday season.
