HospitalityMaine Celebrates 2025 Award Winners in Rockport

HospitalityMaine has recognized the outstanding contributions of professionals in the state’s hospitality sector by announcing its award winners for 2025. The prestigious awards were presented during the organization’s annual summit, which took place on November 17-18 in Rockport, Maine.

Among the notable winners, Chef Gil Pilaster from The Causeway Restaurant in Spruce Head was honored as the Chef of the Year. Pilaster, who has been widely acknowledged for his culinary talents, currently leads the kitchen at The Causeway, part of The Craignair Inn by the Sea. Kathleen Pierce, Director of Membership and Communications at HospitalityMaine, highlighted Pilaster’s journey, noting that he has “cooked his way across the state” and has garnered significant attention since taking the helm at the restaurant.

Another key award recipient was restaurateur Josh Miranda, who earned the title of Restaurateur of the Year. Miranda owns or co-owns several popular venues in Portland, including Blyth & Burrows, Off Track Pizza, Papi, and Via Vecchia. Pierce commended Miranda for his “pure Maine grit and creativity,” emphasizing that his establishments reflect his hard work and dedication to the community.

Additional Award Winners Showcase Excellence

The awards ceremony also recognized several other individuals for their exceptional contributions to the hospitality industry. Katie Keene, from The Dunes on the Waterfront in Ogunquit, was named Innkeeper of the Year. The Employee of the Year award went to Cheyenne Wright of York Harbor Inn, while Paper Trails of Kennebunk was honored as the Allied Member of the Year.

Pierce characterized these accolades as a “hospitality badge of honor” for the recipients, reflecting their commitment to excellence within the industry. The recognition not only celebrates individual achievements but also highlights the vibrant and diverse hospitality scene in Maine.
