Two faculty members from Milligan University, Dr. Daniel Cutshall and James Dzuba, have been recognized as prominent figures in the regional business landscape. The Business Journal of Tri-Cities TN/VA has included them in this year’s 40 Under Forty class, which honors young professionals under the age of 40 who excel in their careers while contributing to their communities.
Contributions to Engineering and Business Education
Dr. Daniel Cutshall, an associate professor of electrical engineering, joined Milligan’s faculty in 2019. His teaching and mentoring focus on electronics and renewable energy technologies. Cutshall has been instrumental in several community-oriented engineering projects. These include adapting ride-on vehicles for children with disabilities through the initiative Go Baby Go, developing a clean water system for refugees in Piedras Negras, Mexico, and designing a solar-powered well pump for Turkana, Kenya.
His scholarly contributions include two first-author publications and multiple co-authored articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Greg Harrell, the Malcolm C. and Ruth G. Myers Chair of Engineering, praised Cutshall, stating, “Daniel Cutshall is a fantastic picture of someone who uses their inherent gifts, their expert training, and their incredible work ethic to make the world a better place. He is an exceptional picture of Milligan Engineering and well deserving of this honor.”
On the other hand, James Dzuba serves as an instructor of business at Milligan, where he teaches various courses, including personal finance and corporate finance. Additionally, he holds the position of operations manager at Ballad Health. His dual role in academia and healthcare management underscores his commitment to educating future leaders while actively participating in the business sector.
Recognition at the 40 Under Forty Event
Both Cutshall and Dzuba were selected by an independent panel of judges and celebrated alongside other honorees at a recognition event held in Johnson City last month. This acknowledgment not only highlights their individual achievements but also reflects the impact of Milligan University on the wider community.
The 40 Under Forty award serves to illuminate the contributions of young professionals across various fields, showcasing those who are shaping the future of business and community service. With their commitment to excellence and community involvement, Cutshall and Dzuba exemplify the values that the award seeks to honor.
