Nashoba Tech Students Gather Donations for Local Spice Drive

The Cultures and Communities Club at Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford has successfully completed its annual Spice Drive, collecting essential cooking items for local families. The donations were presented to the Coalition for a Better Acre, based in Lowell, which aims to enhance the quality of life for residents in the community.

This year’s collection focused on providing spices and cooking oils, allowing families to explore their culinary creativity and maintain their cultural heritage through family recipes. Club members Emma Ehring and Aaron Jewer-Liles, both seniors from Chelmsford, had the honor of delivering the donations.

Community Impact and Continuing Tradition

State Representative Vanna Howard, who is also a member of the Coalition for a Better Acre’s Board of Directors, accepted the donation with appreciation. This initiative marks the fourth consecutive year that the Cultures and Communities Club has organized the Spice Drive, demonstrating a continued commitment to supporting local families in need.

The Spice Drive not only provides tangible support but also fosters a sense of community and cultural awareness among students and families. By encouraging the preservation of traditional recipes, the initiative highlights the importance of cultural identity through food.

As the club continues its mission, it invites further participation from students and local residents to broaden the impact of this valuable program. The success of the Spice Drive reflects the dedication of young individuals like Ehring and Jewer-Liles, who are making a difference in their community.

Efforts such as these are vital in addressing food accessibility and promoting diversity within culinary practices. The Cultures and Communities Club remains a beacon of hope and support for families, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the flavors of their heritage.
