Nonprofit Expands Affordable Housing Options in Tucson

A Tucson-based nonprofit, Blessings Through Action, has commenced construction on two new buildings aimed at expanding its offerings of affordable housing. The organization currently manages 18 fully renovated homes and condominiums throughout the city, providing essential support to individuals on fixed incomes, including people with disabilities, veterans, and those reliant on Social Security benefits.

The new construction, located near Glenn and Country Club, will be adjacent to an existing condominium complex owned by the nonprofit. This expansion will introduce a four-bedroom transitional housing unit designed to assist families and individuals preparing to transition into permanent housing. Each unit will feature separate entrances and a shared central space, which can also be utilized for community events and gatherings.

Elaine Beck, the founder of Blessings Through Action, emphasized her commitment to ensuring that no one feels marginalized or unsupported. “My goal is to help others in ways that I knew I could have used help,” Beck stated. She highlighted the importance of providing housing that is affordable and accessible, noting that the organization never charges more than half of each renter’s income. The monthly rent is capped at $700, allowing families to allocate resources for other essential expenses.

The nonprofit has a limited number of available units, which are designated for individuals on fixed incomes. While the application process has specific eligibility requirements, those in need are encouraged to visit the organization’s website for further information and assistance.

With this new initiative, Blessings Through Action continues its mission of fostering community support and enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable populations in Tucson. The organization’s dedication to affordable housing is crucial in a time when many individuals struggle to secure stable living conditions.
