The PCM girls wrestling team demonstrated resilience during the dual tournament at Woodward-Granger on December 1, 2023, splitting their four dual matches. The Mustangs achieved victories over North Polk and Clarke while facing losses against the host team, Woodward-Granger, and Dallas Center-Grimes.
In the match against Clarke, PCM secured a convincing 42-23 victory. The team was 2-3 in contested matches, benefiting significantly from five forfeits. Notable performances came from Hadley Millang and Addison Fry, who both won their contested matches by fall at 135 and 115 pounds, respectively. Forfeits were claimed by Ryan DeVore (110), Courtney Cole (120), Holly Wood (140), Macie Kain (145), and Emma Beyer (170).
Against North Polk, the Mustangs edged out their opponents by criteria after securing six forfeit wins. Millang achieved a remarkable pin in just 11 seconds, although PCM recorded only 1-3 in contested matches. Forfeits were taken by Wood, Kain, Carly Wilkerson (155), Beyer, Lily Birkenholtz (190), and Emilyn Davis (235).
In a tougher match against Woodward-Granger, the Mustangs faced a 48-28 defeat. The host team excelled with 5-2 in contested matches. Wilkerson achieved a quick pin within 17 seconds at 155 pounds, while Beyer secured an 18-7 major decision win at 170 pounds. Both teams had three forfeits, with wins from PCM recorded by Birkenholtz, DeVore, and Fry.
The dual against Dallas Center-Grimes proved challenging, resulting in a 60-18 loss for PCM. Millang claimed the only contested victory for the Mustangs, winning by fall in the first period. Beyer and Cole also took forfeits, leading to a 1-7 record in contested matches for the dual.
Highlighting the individual performances of the night, Beyer finished with an impressive 4-0 record, including three forfeit wins. Millang concluded her day at 3-1 with three pins, while Wood, Kain, Wilkerson, Birkenholtz, DeVore, Fry, and Cole all recorded 2-2 outcomes.
