Jane Elizabeth Heath, aged 67, passed away on November 21, 2025, at The Barron Center in Portland, Maine, following a prolonged illness. Born on November 3, 1958, in Bangor, Maine, she was the daughter of the late John and Jean Heath.
A Multifaceted Career and Passionate Life
After completing her education at Hampden Academy, Jane pursued further studies at Katherine Gibbs College in Boston and the University of Maine. She made significant contributions to the workforce, notably serving as the Director of Human Resources at DeLorme Mapping during its formative years. Later, she continued her career at Frank’s Bakery in Bangor.
Jane was not just an accomplished professional but also a person of many talents. She was a certified notary and officiated numerous weddings, helping couples celebrate their special moments. Renowned for her exceptional baking skills, Jane was especially famous for her delicious carrot cake, which she lovingly prepared for weddings of family and friends. At one point, she even ran her own catering business.
Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively in her youth, exploring the landscapes of western Europe and the western United States. Jane also had a passion for knitting, creating beautiful blankets for newborns among her family and friends, solidifying her place as a cherished figure in their lives.
A Lasting Legacy of Kindness
Jane will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit. She is survived by her sisters, Ellen Heath, Anne Stuart (married to John), and Margaret Carignan (married to Rob), along with her brother Richard Heath (married to Barbara). Jane also leaves behind her Aunt Anne, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, their children, and many dear friends.
In accordance with her wishes, a celebration of life will take place in the spring of 2026 on a date yet to be determined. Jane will be laid to rest beside her parents in Bar Harbor.
